Mrs. Grace Helen Strength Kyser-- Age 83, a native of Escambia County, AL, and a resident of Brewton, AL, died Monday, March 24, 2003. Mrs. Kyser retired from Reid State Vocational School in Evergreen, AL as the Director of the LPN Program. She was the founder and first director of the Jefferson Davis Junior College School of Nursing in Brewton, AL and Instructor in the Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami, FL. She also was the Director of Nursing at Greenlawn Hospital in Atmore, AL and the Asst. Director of Nursing at Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. She was President of District 8 Alabama Nursing Association and Nurse of the Year in District 8. Mrs. Kyser was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Henry Kyser, Sr. She is survived by: one son, Gordon (Jean) Kyser, Jr. of Estes Park, CO; one daughter, Carol Kyser (William H.) Thompson of Spanish Fort, AL; one brother, Bryon (Christine) Strength of Brewton, AL; one sister, Ruth Olene Strength (Buddy) Cooper of Spanish Fort, AL; three grandchildren, Sandra Kyser Jacobs, Gordon Douglas Kyser, Daniel H. Kyser, all of Fort Collins, CO; 1 great grandchild, Klara Jacobs of Fort Collins, CO. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in the chapel of Fairhope Funeral Home with Rev. Jean Spikes and Rev. Homer Stewart officiating. There will also be a memorial service Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton, Alabama. The service will take place at the Neal Colonial Center Auditorium at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Jean Spikes and Rev. Homer Stewart officiating. Kendall D. Pullman, 70, of Sumner Township died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1986, at his home.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Schnepp Funeral Home in Riverdale with the Rev. Jane Lippert officiating. Burial will be at Pritchard Cemetery.
Mr. Pullman was born April 23, 1916, in Gratiot County to Delbert and Hazel (Pardee) Pullman. He married Ruth Burnham on June 24, 1942, in Emerson Township.
A Gratiot County resident all his life, Mr. Pullman was a farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau and the Lincoln Road United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Neil of Ovid; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Ann) Hunt of Alma, Mrs. Ronald (Beth) Luce of Highland City, Fla., Mrs. Joe (Kay Pullman) Harrison of Lansing, and Mrs. John (Jill) Allen of Flint; a brother, Stuart of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Ballenger and Barbara Louise Pullman.
