MONROE MARION VINING, 65, 500 Umatilla Blvd., Umatilla, died Wednesday. Born in Morley, Mich., he moved to Umatilla from Pahokee in 1981.

Norma E. Hunker, 83, formerly of Glenview Drive, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at Good Shepherd Home, where she was a resident.
She was born Oct. 31, 1920 in Tiffin to Edward and Pearl Simonis. She married Charles B. Hunker on Dec. 31, 1939 in Tiffin.
Norma is survived by her husband, Charles. She is also survived by three daughters, Connie L. Thompson, Fostoria; Mrs. Gary (Cynthia) Davis, Bloomdale; Christine K. Hunker, Tiffin; one sister, Marjorie Riley, Tiffin; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pearl Simonis.
Mrs. Hunker was a homemaker. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1938. She was a former member of Fostoria Chapter #94 Order of the Eastern Star, former Girl Scout leader and cook at the YMCA.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Obituary:
David Jackson Catlett, 76, died at 11 p.m. Oct. 16, 2009, at St. Rita�s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born May 29, 1933, in Lima to Frank �Jerry� and Ruby Violet Haggard Catlett, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 8, 1957, at the First Church of God in Lima, he married Dolores Joyce Wendel, who died June 4, 2000.
Mr. Catlett graduated from South High School in 1951. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. Upon re-entering civilian life, he was employed by the city of Lima, first with the Streets Department and then with the Lima Fire Department. In 1968, he and his family moved to Bradenton, Fla. He joined the Bradenton Police Department, where he retired as deputy police chief in 1994. He was a life member of American Legion Post 96, Lima, where he served as the adviser to the Sons of the American Legion from 2007 to 2009. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 21, Lima, and a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid reader, loved watching old movies and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage.
Survivors include a son, David (Sherry) Catlett, of Palmetto, Fla.; a daughter, Diana (Mark) Kruse, of Blacklick; two brothers, Frank L. (Carole) Catlett, of Lima, and Robert D. (Carolyn) Catlett, of Cambria, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Catlett, Anthony Catlett and Jamie Kruse; a brother-in-law, Larry �Joe� (Ginny) Wendel, of Loudon, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Ralph) Albright and Janie Lamping, both of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Arheit will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Leukemia Foundation.

Elaine G. Lester (Sluiter), age 75, of Hudsonville, passed away with her family surrounding her and went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Donald G. Lester; her daughter, Debra Dunn; her grandson, Aaron Criger; and her sister, Joyce Baird. Her memory will be cherished by her children, David (Stephanie) Lester, Dawnette Lester, Delight Lester and Diane (Rich) Sullivan; grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Tim, Andy, Jenny, Luke, Richard, Delight, Isabel, Leysis, Lillie, Nicole and Haley; several great grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Al DeJonge and their children, Kelly, Blake, Heather and Shawn and their extended families and many other family members. Elaine graduated from Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. After graduation she worked as a hospital floor supervisor in California and in New York City. In 1961 she became a Missionary for the Reformed Church in America, serving in Kuwaitt. She returned to New York where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1971, and continued her education to obtain her Master's Degree in Nursing Administration from New York University, graduating in 1973. In June of 1973 Elaine and Don were married and moved to Detroit where she became a professor of Nursing at Mercy College of Detroit. She continued her professional nursing career until her retirement. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all Elaine's friends, family, and neighbors for their support of Elaine and the family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson, S.E. with her pastor the Rev. Chandler Stokes officiating. The service will be followed by a light lunch at which time the family will greet friends and extended family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Elaine's name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, for the establishment of the Don and Elaine Lester Memorial Fund, through the Presbyterian Foundation.

He is a math teacher for Highland Local Schools in Sparta.
