Obituary:
Theodore (Ted) Roy Dixon was born November 21, 1951 in Lansing, Michigan and passed away November 16, 2020 in Land O Lakes, Florida, after a ten-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He fought the disease with dignity and grace and he volunteered for clinical studies to help with research for future generations.
His Catholic faith was a priority. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus, a choir member, a Eucharist Minister, and volunteered his time and talents to various programs within the church including serving on the Tampa Catholic School Board. His love of Country never faltered. He was assigned to the USS Roosevelt in the 1970's where he became a member of the Air Operation Team as an air traffic controller. After leaving the Navy he was employed by Veteran's Affairs where he worked with disabled veterans. He was an active member of the AMVETS.
Ted established T.R. Dixon and Assoc Inc, a Real Estate Appraisal Firm in the 1980s. As a business owner he had the opportunity to contribute to the community as well as volunteering his talents to many local charity events. He served on many professional organizational boards. He was a part-time instructor for Bert Rodgers School of Real Estate and he was asked to participate in the creation of exam questions for the Real Estate Appraisal certification exam for the State of Florida. As a member of the Appraisal Institute, he earned his SRA designation and sat as local Chapter President for the Society of Real Estate Appraiser's and the Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. Toys for Tots was his favorite endeavor with the Appraisal Institute.
His many interests included participating in his children's sports activities. Watching his favorite teams play, MSU, Rays, Lightning, and the BUCS. His passion for his teams was undeniably characterized by his
shouting in the house and as well in the stands. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, cruising, traveling, karaoke, dancing and meeting up with friends for laughs. He always enjoyed a nice trip back to Michigan to see family and friends with the possibility of attending a sporting event or two. The time he spent with friends and family was a significant part of his life. He loved each and every laugh, story, and one liner.
He was always surrounded by his joyful noisy happy family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Margaret A. (Neal) Dixon, his mother Lillian J. (Snowberger) Dixon (John), his sister Mary (Dixon) Hovey
Miller (Robert), his sons Eric J. Dixon (Crystal), Andrew D. Dixon (Kelly), daughter Nicole A. (Dixon) Bouchard (Ernest), his grandchildren Mark A. Bouchard (Gabrielle), Alexis M. (Dixon) Tannert (Corey),
Katlynn V. Bouchard, Kessler B. Dixon, Taylor L. Dixon, Aubrey N. Dixon, and Shawn M. Wright. Great grandchild Tenley N. Tannert. Many brother and sister in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
To all who knew Ted, I'm sure you would agree, to know Ted meant that you had a friend for life. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 3, 2020 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 17512 Lakeshore Road, Lutz, FL 33558, with visitation being held one hour prior, from 10:00 am-11:00 am at the church.
