Obituary:
Carol J. Dear, 57, of Lima, died at 12:18 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health Systems, after fighting a brave battle with colorectal cancer. She was born Dec. 19, 1954, in Lima, to Walter and Marilyn (Gerdeman) Jones who preceded her in death.
Ms. Dear was employed at American Trim for the past 35 years. She was a 1973 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. She had made many friends and will be remembered for her unique sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew her. She enjoyed cooking, practical jokes, flea markets, garage sales and spending time with her grandson, niece and nephew. She also enjoyed going on cruises with her sister. Carol made everyone around her laugh and her sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Surviving are a daughter: Jennifer (Brian) Blankemeyer of Lima; a sister, Linda (Chad) Niese of Ottawa; a brother, Mark (Martessa) Jones; a grandson, Jason Lashlee of Florida; a niece, Lauren Niese and a nephew, Murray Niese both of Ottawa.
Visitation will be 2-4, and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where a Parish Wake service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. by Fr. David Ross.
Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
In lieu of flowers, please schedule yourself a colonoscopy. Prevention is key.

Mark Alan Jones was appointed vice president for institutional advancement. Jones has over 25 years of experience in fundraising and marketing in both educational institutions and healthcare. Most recently, he served as associate vice president for development at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. Prior to that, he served as assistant dean of advancement and alumni affairs for the College of Engineering at the College of Illinois at Chicago and as a major gift officer in the College�s central development office.
