Obituary:
Regina Dorothy Schmitt Westphalia, MI Age 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2006. She was born on April 2, 1914 in Dallas Township, MI the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Feldpausch) Koenigsknecht. Mrs. Schmitt was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, a member of the Christian Mothers, and a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters. Regina loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed word searches, M & Ms and scrapbooking. She married Isidore "Izzy" Schmitt on February 15, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann Schmitt and Frances Koenigsknecht; brothers, Joseph Koenigsknecht and Anthony Koenigsknecht; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
Surviving are her children, Gerald (Evelyn) Schmitt of Westphalia, Richard (Bonnie) Schmitt of Lansing, Ruth Doepker of Owosso and Jean (James) Klein of Portland; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Veronica Pohl of Pewamo and Irene Harr of Fowler; brother, Alfred Koenigsknecht of Fowler; brother-in-law, Anthony (Beverly) Schmitt of Lansing; and sisters-in-law, Clara Wirth and Mary Spitzley, both of Westphalia.

SCHMITT, ISIDORE W. "IZZY"
Age 81, died March 27, 1995. Born July 30, 1913 in Westphalia, the son of John P. and Regina (Ott) Schmitt. Mr, Schmitt was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Choir, was an Eucharistic Minister, and was Sexton of St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery; was a member of the St. Joseph Society and Catholic Order Of Foresters. Mr. Schmitt retired as custodian of St. Mary's Parish after 37 years of service; retired as a school bus driver; and also retired from the Westphalia Fire Dept. Preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Louis, George and the Rev. Albert Schmitt. He is survived by his wife, Regina; 2 daughters, Ruth Doepker of Owosso and Jean (James) Klein of Portland; 2 sons, gerald (Evelyn) of Westphalia and Richard (Bonnie) Schmitt of Lansing; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Julius of Fowler, Martin (Ann) of Pewamo and Anthony (Beverly) Schmitt of Lansing; 2 sisters, Clara (Herman) Wirth and Mary Spitzley, both of Westphalia. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 30, 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. James Novak, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed Tuesday, 8 p.m. and Wednesday, 3 and 8 p.m. The family was served by the Gorsline-Runciman Co., Neller Chapel, Portland.

Obituary:
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Boyne City for Allan E. Sherk. 88, postmaster at Walloon Lake from 1927-1945, who died early today at Little Traverse Hospital where he had been a patient for two days. Rev. Harold J. Evans will officiate and interment will be in the Clarion cemetery. He was born at Caledonia on March 3, 1874 and came to a farm rear Wallows Lake in 1890. In 1904, he married Margaret Todd, who died in November. 1920. He 'married Miss Lela Elwood on September 15, 1928 and she died in May, 1949. On August 27, 1950, he married Emma Rediger, who survives. Mr. Sherk moved from his farm to Walloon Lake village in 1925 and was postmaster for 18 years there. He was a member of the Assembly of God at Boyne City. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son. Charles A. of Walloon Lake: three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Doepker of Kalkaska, Mrs. Cleo (Beth) Snook of Niles and Mrs. Dale (Vivian) Cooper of Walloon Lake; eight grandchildren; three great grand-children; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Goodwin of Detroit; three brothers, Ira, Glenn and Wilton, all of South Haven. The body is at the Stone Funeral Home, where friends may call.

Obituary:
Stanley Eugene Snyder, 85, of Kalkaska, passed away at home Monday, February 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. Stanley was born in Springfield Township, Michigan to the late Stanley A. and Maxwell L. (Lanning) Snyder. He was married to his wife and the love of his life for 59 years, Ruth Anne (Doepker) Snyder. Stan was a local businessman who owned an adult foster care for 23 years, was a restaurant owner and worked for Kalkaska County Road Commission. He was in the United States Army from 1955 to 1959 serving in Germany and France. He was a true family man who was kind and generous. You could find Stanley at the Big Boy most mornings. He loved his dog Maggie and watching westerns on TV. He was known as a jokester and loved to tease. Stanley was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ where he loved potluck Sundays. Stanley will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth Anne, children Amy (John) Lantzer and Chuck (Rita) Snyder, grandchildren Rebecca (Will) Hilmert, Rachel (Steven) Konsella, Abram (Sara) Lantzer, Matt (Bekah) Gerring, Jamie (Lindsey) Gerring, great-grandchildren Zoe, Paige, Grace, Reagan, Collyns, Riley, Landen Jacob, Lucus, Brennan, and Jason. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Maxine and brother Harold Snyder. A funeral service will be held at Kalkaska Church of Christ on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow in the community room in the lower level of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kalkaska Church of Christ.

Donalda "Doni" Barbara Barrett, 74, of Kalkaska, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019. Donalda was born to Alex and Evelyn (Sherk) Doepker on November 1, 1944 in Petoskey. Doni attended Kalkaska Public Schools, and graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids with a teaching degree. She married her late husband, Timothy, in 1969 and the two of them taught around the US and the world in such places as North Yorkshire in England, a tiny South Pacific island called American Samoa, and Native American Indian reservations in North and South Dakota. Doni enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and participating in many church activities. She was a devoted teacher both in school and church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, founder of the Kalkaska MS Support Group, and looked forward to attending each summer at a camp to help those with disabilities. Doni will be lovingly remembered by her children: Craig Barrett, Carri (Ernie) Latta, Damien (Alise) Barrett, Cameron Barrett, and Dana (Dan) Tuller; sisters, Ruth Ann (Stanley) Snyder and Betty Jane Johnson; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church on February 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Obituary:
Timothy Wayne BARRETT graced our world on August 14, 1942 in Toledo, Lucas Co, Ohio. He left our world on March 21, 1985 while working as a principal for the Department of Defence in Harrogate, England. He suffered from cardiac arrest. He is buried in Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan. Tim was an adventurer. He loved to travel the world and to go to new places, seeing new things. I greatly admired him. He is one who understood me. He helped me to raise my self-esteem level and for that I am always thankful.
