Obituary:
Joseph H. Verhoff, 77, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Columbus Grove, died July 12, 2009, at Tidwell Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 2, 1932, in Columbus Grove to George and Charlotte Kissell Verhoff, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 27, 1952, he married Gladys M. Myers, who survives in Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Verhoff attended Columbus Grove High School. He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. He co-owned and operated Verhoff Lumber Co. before becoming postmaster at the Van Buren Post Office. He and his wife retired to Sarasota, Fla., in 1995. He was a life member of American Legion Post 516 Columbus Grove. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove.
His laughter and smile were contagious. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and put others before himself. He cherished life's many gifts to the fullest and was kind, gentle and warmhearted. He loved playing cards, spending time with his family, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and attending church. He would never back away from a good conversation, especially politics and sports. He had a very big heart and will be greatly missed.
Survivors also include two sons, David (Vickie) Verhoff, of Sarasota, Fla., and Joseph (Pam) Verhoff, of Defiance; three daughters, Angela (Ed) Howell, of Pandora, Rose (Brian) Hovest, of Tallmadge, and Debra (Mike) Reed, of Columbus Grove; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Verhoff and George Verhoff, both of Columbus Grove, and Dick Verhoff, of Sycamore; a sister, Madalyn (Butch) Donaldson, of Columbus Grove; and two sisters-in-law, Eloise Verhoff and Phyllis Verhoff, both of Columbus Grove.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Ted Verhoff; and a sister, Judy (Lowell) Steele.

Services for Theodore J. "Ted" Verhoff, 73, of Columbus Grove, who died 3:19 a.m. Saturday at his home, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church in Columbus Grove, the Rev. Bernard Kokocinski officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Columbus Grove. He was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Columbus Grove to George and Charlotte C. (Kissell) Verhoff Sr. On Nov. 27, 1948 he married Eloise Myers, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Greg (Angie) Verhoff of Columbus Grove; four daughters: Francis "Fritz" (Daniel) Maag, Teddi (Gordon) Graham, Vickie (Jerry) Ruen and Cindy (Dan) Irwin, of Columbus Grove; four brothers: Joe (Gladys) Verhoff of Sarasota, Fla., Richard (Jackie) Verhoff of Sycamore, James (Phyllis) Verhoff and George (Johneen) Verhoff of Columbus Grove; a sister, Madalyn (George) Donaldson of Columbus Grove; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Verhoff of Columbus Grove; a brother-in-law, Lowell Steele of Lima; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Verhoff, and a sister, Judy Steele. Mr. Verhoff was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1947. He had been co-owner of Verhoff Lumber Company and later was employed by Columbus Grove Schools for 12 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Columbus Grove. He was a member of the Columbus Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years and had served as assistant fire chief. Mr. Verhoff was a member of the Columbus Grove Eagles Post 2722, and was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Obituary:
Eloise M. Verhoff, 82, died at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 21, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1931, near Columbus Grove to Jacob and Ethel Stephens Myers, who preceded her in death. Her stepmother, Emma Walti Myers, also preceded her in death. On Nov. 27, 1948, she married Theodore "Ted" Verhoff, who died March 30, 2002.
Mrs. Verhoff was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She worked at Kenny's Lunch, Konalrad Industries and Ricker's Party Shop, all of Columbus Grove. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed attending the various school and church events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Greg (Angie) Verhoff, of Columbus Grove; four daughters, Frances "Fritz" (Dan) Maag, of Columbus Grove, Teddi (Gordon) Graham, of Columbus Grove, Vickie (Jerry) Ruen, of Fort Loramie, and Cindy (Dan) Irwin, of Columbus Grove; a brother, Doyle (Donna) Myers, of Attica; four sisters, Bonnie (Alvin) Schumacher, of Columbus Grove, Gladys Verhoff, of Columbus Grove, Ilo Hoskins, of Vaughnsville, and Sharon (Butch) Moore, of Columbus Grove; and 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will begin at 8 p.m.

Their children hosted a family dinner at The Inn in Versailles yesterday, Aug. 30th. Ruen and the former Vickie Verhoff were married Aug. 31, 1974 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in Columbus Grove, by the Rev. Neal Lucas. They are the parents of two daughters, Andrea (Brad) Turner and Kirsten (Phil) Seger, both of Fort Loramie. They have three granddaughters.Ruen is employed by CSX Transportation. His wife is a registered nurse at OB/GYN Specialists of Lima.

Lucille M. Zink, 88, of Marshall, died on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Oaklawn Hospital.
Ms. Zink was born on May 4, 1924, in Ottawa, Ohio, to August F. and Margaret M.(Kleman) Ellerbrock. Her marriage with Clarence Zink ended in divorce.
Ms. Zink was a seamstress and a clerk for Brooks Rupture Appliance for 16 years; she retired in 1994. She also was a former partner in Zink Ready Mix in Marshall. She was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, and Marshall Women of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing and dancing.
She is survived by her two daughters; Gloria (William) Clayborn of Marshall, Patty (Malcolm) MacAskill of Barre, Vermont, two sons; John Zink, Gary (Julie) Zink all of Marshall, eight grandchildren, and 16 great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Jean Nowicki, Margaret Niese, Edna Vajan, brother Thomas Ellerbrock, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Gloria Ellerbrock, Marie Wehrly and brothers Norbert, Donald, Ralph and August Ellerbrock Jr. Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a rosary service taking place at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Saint Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Stephen Naas officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Fountain Clinic. Assistance with memorials is available at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home.

DONALD THOMAS ELLERBROCK, 77, of Milton, W.Va., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Valley View Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hurricane, with the Rev. Ralph Sager officiating. Military graveside rites will be performed by American Legion Post 139, Milton. Donald was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Ottawa, Ohio, a son of the late August and Margaret Ellerbrock. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Benroth Ellerbrock on Dec. 4, 1992. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Handley Gibson Ellerbrock; one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Melanie Ellerbrock of Worthington, Ky.; one daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Jack Crutchfield of Huntington; four grandchildren, Ian and Colden Ellerbrock, and Matthew and Beth Ann Crutchfield; one stepson and his wife, Ronnie and Teresa Gibson of Salt Rock; one stepdaughter and her husband, Brenda and Mark Burden of Ashton; five step grandchildren, Brandon, Kristi and Jennifer Gibson, and Joey and Jamie Burden; and five sisters and one brother. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from The Chessie System where he was a structural engineer in charge of all bridges and tunnels in the State of West Virginia. He was a talented craftsman and had resided in Milton for the last 37 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Distefano and the nurses of the 6th floor oncology unit at St. Mary's Medical Center, with a special thanks to Brenda, Wendy, Amy, Julius and Dusty for their support and understanding. Friends may call one hour prior to service at Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Heck Funeral Home, Milton is in charge of the arrangements.

LEIPSIC � Mary M. "Margie" Niese, 82, of Leipsic died at 11:47 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born August 3, 1933 in Ottawa to the late August and Margaret (Kleman) Ellerbrock. On January 28, 1953 she married Virgil F. Niese who survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving are 5 children: Richard Niese of Napoleon, Jerry (Jane) Niese of Leipsic, Jeff (Annette) Niese of Glouster, Joe (Jill) Niese and Connie (Rick) Niese both of Leipsic; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother: Tommy Ellerbrock of San Diego, CA; and 2 sisters: Edna (Jim) Vajen of Napoleon and Jean Nowicki of Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Ralph, August Jr., Norbert, and Donald Ellerbrock; and 2 sisters: Lucille Zink and Marie Wehrly.
Margie was retired from Allied Egry, Leipsic and Meijer's, Defiance. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Margie volunteered at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa and loved going to the casino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, OTTAWA where there will be a rosary service at 8 p.m.
