Stack David John* [Male] b. 20 APR 1945 Shepherd, Isabella, MI - d. 5 JAN 2024 Ascension St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, MI

Obituary:
David John Stack, age 78, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, January 5, 2024 at Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw. The son of the late Bernard and Irene (Bruskotter) Stack, he was born on April 20, 1945 in Shepherd. Dave graduated from Saginaw High School and served with bravery in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His military service in Vietnam was marked by acts of bravery and selflessness. He returned home where he went to work at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring after 31 years. On July 30, 1982 Dave was united in marriage to his true love, the former Carol A. McMahon. Together they formed a great duo not only as a family but professionally too, as owners of Neighborhood Cleaners on N. Union St. and D&C Cleaners. They traveled often throughout the US, Hawaii and Europe, and for the last 20 years have enjoyed spending winters at their home in Florida. Dave enjoyed socializing and making friends wherever he was, especially at the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He had a special place in his heart for all of his pets over the years, was a voracious reader and an avid gardener; he always kept his yard in pristine condition. A hard worker his entire life, Dave was a known handyman for his family and friends, always ready to help with any project no matter the size. While seemingly quiet on the outside, he was attentive and very humorous with family and friends, and with a huge heart, he was so very generous.
Dave will be forever remembered by his wife, Carol, and two daughters, Traci (Bryan) Yates and Tanya Weidman. He was "Papa Dave", never missing a game or event, to his grandchildren, Mackenzie (Tom) Rezler, Anthony O'Deay (Breanne), Ashton Yates, Scout Yates, Preston Lindsay, Jr. and Sawyer Yates, and great grandchildren, Rosie, Leonard and Violet Rezler. Dave is also survived by his sister, Elaine Kushon; a brother, Bill (Bonnie) Stack; two sisters-in-law, Beverly McMahon and Mary (Tim) Turney; and several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom (Lucy) Stack; his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Martha McMahon; a sister-in-law, Joann (Don) Dzioba; and a brother-in-law, Bob Kushon.
A Celebration of Dave's Life will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Trahan Funeral Chapel, with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Visiting hours will be on Saturday, January 20th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
