Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Age 80 years. Son of the late Cornelius and Katherine (Roberts) Doepker, Willard was born June 27, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army. Willard married Patricia A. Sliwinski, his loving wife of 33 years, in August of 1983. She survives him. Willard retired from Wright-K Technology. He was a member of the Catholic Faith. Willard enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching the Tigers and Lions.
Surviving besides his wife Patricia are one son, Gerald and Carie Doepker; four step-daughters and one step-son, Lisa B. Langley, Michelle Babcock, Dawn Forsberg, Pam Spencer and Greg Berkobien; several grandchildren; one sister and two brothers, Joanne Schafer, Joe and Kathy Doepker, Robert and Kathleen Depker; many nieces and nephews. Willard was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Jim Doepker and a sister Maureen Quellette.
Funeral Service will take place 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Sr. Janet Pewoski CSJ will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Huntington�s Disease Society or your local animal shelter.

SCHAFER, MR. ALEX "SONNY" Saginaw Twp., Michigan Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Toni and Trish House in Auburn. Age 78 years. The son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Meyer) Schafer, Alex was born on October 12, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. Alex married Joanne Doepker, his loving wife of 56 years, on December 28, 1957. She survives. Alex, Joanne and his parents were the former owners of Old Heidelberg Inn in Sebewaing. Alex served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He enjoyed canoe racing, snowmobiling, and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. For the last 15 years, he and Joanne spent their winters in Florida and loved spending his time on the beach and enjoying all Florida had to offer. Surviving besides his wife, Joanne are two daughters, Lori and Steven Sella, Unionville; Brenda Schafer, Sebewaing; four grandchildren, Ryan (Tabatha) Sella, Nicole Sella, Jordan Heckroth and Tyler Heckroth; three great-grandchildren, Laikyn, Alexander and Benton; a sister, Betty Guenther, Sebewaing. Alex was preceded in death by a son and a daughter, Gary Schafer and Leanne Schafer, also a brother-in-law, Duane Guenther. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. James Carlson will officiate with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family will share memories at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Toni and Trish House or Grace Hospice.

Norwalk, Ohio - Edith J. Smith, 93, died Sunday evening, August 19,2012, in Twilight Gardens Home. She was born May 14, 1919 in Bellevue, Ohio to the late John and Ida (Mowry) Lamb and was a lifelong area resident.
Edith was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, Ohio, where she served as a member of the altar and rosary society and helped with the accounting of the collection envelopes for many years. She was a former telephone operator supervisor in Sandusky, Ohio. Edith and her late husband, Walter, were instrumental in the development of Christie Lane School and Workshop and drove bus for them for many years. Edith was well known for her lemon meringue pie at the St. Joseph festival, and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She and her husband enjoyed dancing. Edith was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and listened to the Indians win the 1948 world series on the radio.
She is survived by her children, Gregory L. Smith of Norwalk, Ohio, Martin D. Smith of Williston, Ohio, Roger K. Smith, of Norwalk, Ohio, Kathleen C. and Richard Griffin, of Norwalk, Ohio, Alan J. Smith and Susan Schindler of Norwalk, Ohio, and Amy J. and Gary Rasnick of Monroeville, Ohio, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Smith in 2003, by her brothers, Bill, Harold, Ernie, Merlin, and J.P. Lamb, and by her sisters, Phyllis David, Helen Windnagle, and Barbara Kollmeier.
