OTTOVILLE - Alicia Heitmeyer, 90, of Ottoville died 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born March 22, 1926 in Glandorf to the late Lawrence and Martha (Schroeder) Unterbrink. On June 7, 1947 she married Norbert Heitmeyer, who died October 6, 2013.
She is survived by her children: Keith (Kathy) Heitmeyer of Ottoville, Jane (Jesse) Swartz of Medina, Janet (Richard) Hemker of Ottoville, Jeff (Ron Buck) Heitmeyer of Denver, CO, Mike (Judy) Heitmeyer of Ottoville and Judy (Chuck) Braden of New Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister: Esther Recker of Glandorf and a brother: Jim (Bernice) Unterbrink of Glandorf.
She is preceded in death by a sister: Carol (Leo) Brinkman; brother-in-law: Bill Recker; and 3 great-grandsons.
Alicia was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Altar Rosary Society. She retired from Ottoville Local Schools where she had worked in the cafeteria, she also worked at VanCrest Nursing Home, and had helped her husband farm on their Century Farm.
She was an avid sports fan and especially loved golfing at the Delphos Country Club and she followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Ottoville Big Green. Alicia loved the outdoors. She mowed her own lawn until the age of 89 and loved flowers and birds. She liked cooking and was known for baking breads, donuts, pies, noodles and chocolate angel food cake and also did canning. She enjoyed knitting and was known for having crocheted over 100 afghans for family and friends. She was a member of the Polka Boosters and the Home and School Association.
Alicia fostered an atmosphere of fun and her favorite saying, and last words, were "Love you more."
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter and Deacon Joe Flores officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

OTTOVILLE - Norbert Heitmeyer, 91, of Ottoville died 10:55 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at The Meadows of Kalida.
He was born April 7, 1922 in Ottoville to the late Fred and Catherine (Dickman) Heitmeyer. On June 7, 1947, he married Alicia Unterbrink, who survives in Ottoville.
Survivors include his children: Keith (Kathy) Heitmeyer of Ottoville, Jane (Jesse) Swartz of Medina, Janet (Richard) Hemker of Ottoville, Jeff (Ron Buck) Heitmeyer of Denver, Mike (Judy) Heitmeyer of Ottoville, and Judy (Chuck) Braden of New Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three great-grandsons; and eight brothers and sisters: John Heitmeyer, Barbara Brinkman, Alphonse Heitmeyer, Frances Schimmoeller, Jean Smith, Marie Heitmeyer, Lee Heitmeyer, and Arnie Heitmeyer.
Norbert was a life long farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights of Ohio, National Farmers Organization, and Delphos Country Club. He was an avid golfer, played a lot of cards, and enjoyed hunting and trapping. His family will always remember his quick wit and one liners.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township with a Scripture Service at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery.

Carol E. Brinkman, 69, died at 12:33 a.m. Sept. 24, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Glandorf to Lawrence and Martha Schroeder Unterbrink, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 27, 1957, she married Leo Brinkman, who died July 16, 1985.
Mrs. Brinkman retired as an assistant clerk/treasurer for Ottawa-Glandorf High School and as clerk/treasurer for the village of Glandorf. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a member of the GLL and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234 Auxiliary, Ottawa. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Linda) Brinkman and Randall (Joan) Brinkman, both of Glandorf; two daughters, Tami Cardell and Brenda (Bernard) Utendorf, both of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, Kent Cardell, Candice Cardell, Christopher Cardell, Marty Cardell, Keith Utendorf, Nick Utendorf, Mandi Utendorf, Jill (Kyle Leatherman) Brinkman, Jodi Brinkman, Justin Brinkman and Jessica Brinkman; a brother, James (Bernice) Unterbrink, of Glandorf; and two sisters, Alicia (Norbert) Heitmeyer, of Ottoville, and Esther (William) Recker, of Glandorf.

GLANDORF - William R. Recker, 82, of Glandorf, died 12:32 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
Mr. Recker was born February 7, 1926 in Dearborn, MI to the late Cornelius and Mary (Gostenik) Recker. He was raised by his grandparents: Herman and Catherine Recker. On February 7, 1948 he married Esther Unterbrink who survives in Glandorf.
He is also survived by his children: Elaine (Dennis) Minkler of Pawleys Island, SC, Linda (Ron) Black of Glandorf, Marlene (Mark) Pine of Charleston, SC, Ann (Mike) Burgoyne of Hilliard, Amy (Tom) Frost of Findlay, Mark (Judy) Recker of Columbus Grove, and Marti (Tim) Imm of Glandorf; 16 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. A brother: Robert Recker preceded him in death.
Mr. Recker was the Postmaster at Glandorf Post Office for 31 years and had been President of Ohio League of Postmasters. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf and its Men's Society. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, member of Glandorf Lions, a member of the Ottawa American Legion for 60 years, and a Kentucky Colonel.

Glandorf, 0H, Official Dies After Accident
An official of Glandorf 0H died yesterday from injuries received in an accident at his home Monday. Leo C. Brinkman, 47. clerk-treasurer of the city for the last 10 years, died in St. Rita Medical Center, Lima, where he was taken Monday following a fall from the second story of his home. According to a Putnam County sheriff's report, Mr. Brinkman and his son. Randy, were lowering a book-case from a second-floor porch when a railing gave way. Both Mr. Brinkman and his son fell and were taken to the hospital. The younger Brinkman was discharged yesterday. Mr. Brinkman was an employee of the Campbell Soup Co., Napoleon. He was also president of the county Municipal Clerks Association. Also surviving are his wife, Carol; son, Kevin; daughters, Mrs. Tami Cardell, of Northwood. and Mrs. Brenda Utendorf; mother, Beatrice Hedrick: brothers. Herbert, Kenneth, and Dennis, and sister, Mrs. Marguerite Miller. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John Church. Glandorf. There will be a scripture service at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the McCrate-Love Mortuary, Ottawa, where the body will be after 2 p.m. today. The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
