Robert James 72 09/30/1938 01/20/2011 Robert "Bob" Black was born a Buckeye in Delaware, Ohio, Sept. 30, 1938, minutes before his twin sister. After high school graduation, he ventured into the world of heavy equipment work, eventually be-coming a factory representative and regional manager for con-struction heavy equipment manu-facturers. In this trade, he developed a love of travel and a quick wit. His life touched many people. Bob leaves behind his wife, Ruth; blended family members, Dick, Chuck (Helen), Rick, Diana, Debra (Glen) and their families; former wife, Jean; daughters, Samantha (Ken), Melissa and Jolene; five grandchildren; siblings, Sandy of Florida and Ed of Ohio; and many extended family members and friends. A celebration of Bob's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, in Tualatin Heritage Center, 8700 S.W. Sweek Drive, Tualatin, OR 97062. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Bob's name to your favorite charity.

Doepker, Mrs. Katherine E. Saginaw, Michigan. Passed away Wednesday. Jan. 23, 1980, at the Community Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida. Age 75 years. Katherine Roberts was born Sept. 3, 1904, in Shephard, Mich. where whe married Cornelius F. Doepker in June of 1927. He survives her. She was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church, its altar society and the League of Catholic Women. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and five sons: Mrs. Gerald (Maureen) Quellet, Frankenmuth, Mrs. Alex (Joanne) Schafer, Sebewaing, Robert L., James P., and Willard N. Doepker, all of Saginaw, Thomas H. Doepker, Freeland, and Joseph V. Doepker, St. Joseph, Mich.; 24 grandchildren; one great grandchild; also five sisters and three brothers: Sister Mary Vincent DePaul and Mrs. Raymond Jennings, both of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Raymond Moeller, Saginaw, Mrs. Harry Tripp, Shephard, Mrs. Harold Pflueger, California, William and Marian Roberts, both of Florida, and Matthew Roberts, Coleman; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Deisler Bros. Funeral Home on Hemmeter, 10:30 a.m. at St. Helen's Catholic Church. Rev. Robert Gohm will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 p.m. Saturday where the family will be present from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. A rosary service will be held at 8:00 Sunday evening.

Patrick J. Roberts, 68, died Sunday at his home, 712 Bristol. He was born June 14, 1874. at Shepherd, coming to Saginaw about two years ago. He married Miss Bertha Sasse. He leaves his wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Harry Tripp and Mrs. Byron Travis of Shepherd, Mrs. Raymond Jennings of Grand Rapids, Sister Vincent de Paul of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Raymond Moeller, Mrs. Neal Doepker, Mrs. Harold Pflueger of Saginaw; four sons, William, Matthew, Marion and Alfred, all of Saginaw; a sister, Mrs. George Gilmore of Owosso; 31 grandchildren. Funeral services will take place at 9:15 a. m. Wednesday at the home and at 10:30 Central war time, at St. Vincent de Paul church. Shepherd. Rev. Fr. Brog-ger will officiate and burial will be at Shepherd. Members of the Holy Name society will meet at the home at 9 p. m. Tuesday to recite the rosary.

SHEPHERD - Funeral mass for Mrs. Bertha R. Roberts, 83, rural Shepherd, will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Roberts died Thursday in Central Michigan Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and of the Altar Society. Mrs. Roberts also was a member of the Third Order of St. Dominic of Gold Star Mothers. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Theresa Moeller and Mrs. Katherine Doepker of Saginaw; Sister Vin-cent de Paul and Mrs. Frances Jennings of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Mildred Tripp of Shepherd and Mrs. Honora Pflueger, Eureka, Calif.; three sons, Patrick Wil-liam of Saginaw, Lawrence Mat-thew of Coleman, and Marian Vincent of Auburn; 56 grand-children; 78 great - grandchil-dren; a sister, Mrs. Dora Thorpe of Midland; and a broth-er, Mrs. Frank Sasse, Louisville, Ky. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on December 4, 2021 at the age of 81 years.
The daughter of the late Robert Vanderburg and late Marcelyn (LaFleur) Vanderburg was born on December 4, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from St. Andrew High School, the class of 1958. She retired from St. Mary�s Hospital after 30 years of service. She enjoyed her home, summer and spending time with family and friends around the pool. She loved camping, spending time at the beach and any moments with her great grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Ruth) Ray, Laurie (Mark) Ray-Magnus, Shari (Richard) Wasney; grandchildren, Lauren Wasney and Taylor (Marcos) Perez; great-grandchildren; Marcelyn Wasney and Sage Perez; sister, Carol (Gene) Hummel and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Vanderburg and Donald Vanderburg.
Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Mark Magnus will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
