Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Mrs. Ben Thompson, 53, who died at her home on Fourth St., Saturday. She was born in Glandorf and later moved to Ottawa. Besides her husband, she leaves five daughters, Mrs. James Black of Columbus; Alice, Elsie, Helen and Ethel, at home. Billy Black, a grandson lives in Columbus. Sisters and brothers living are Mrs. William Westrick, Mrs. Jack Jones, of Ottawa; Mrs. Joe Schmenk, Mrs. August Gatske, of Leipsic; Mrs. Clyde Cook, of Columbus Grove; Mrs. Homer Light, of Lima; Miss Pauline Doepker, of Toledo, and August, Harry and Walter Doepker, all at home. Services will be held at 2 o'clock from the M.E. church with Rev. Donald Shaw officiating.

AUGUST L. DOEPKER
OTTAWA - August L Doepker. 79. of 258 Maple St, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital. He had been ill one day.
Born Oct. 26. 1886 in Glandorf, he was the son of Frank and Magdalen (Lefken) Doepker. He married Amanda Heck and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters Sister Mary Bonaventure, St. Charles Hospital, Toledo; Mrs. Edward (Helen) Dunn, Ottawa; and Mrs. Robert (Mary Katherine) McCrate, Britton Mich.; sons. Robert. Van Wert and Charies, Ottawa; sisters, Mrs. Leona Schenk, Lima: Mrs. Cornelius Schmenk, Leipsic; Mrs. Loretta Jones and Mrs. Coletta Gatzke, both of Ottawa; a brother, Walter, Ottawa; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother and six sisters are deceased,
A retired Baltimore & Ohio Railroad employe, Mr. Doepker was also a former Ottawa fire chief. He was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Services are at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the church, the Rev. Florian Hartke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the McCrate Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited in the church at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

HOMER C. LIGHT
OTTAWA - Funeral services for Homer C. Light, 95, of Route 3, Ottawa, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, the Rev. Carl Minter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pandora.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m, Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Light died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Beaverdam.
He was born Oct. 31, 1891 in Pleasant Township, Putnam County, to Amos and Mary Ann (Burner) Light. He married Frances Doepker on April 16, 1910. and she died in 1961.
Surviving are a son, C.E., of Kenton; a grandson; and a sister, Lena Waggoner, Toledo.
Mr. Light was a retired farmer. He was a member of the former United Brethren Church, Columbus Grove.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

OTTAWA - Mrs. Amanda Doepker, 89, Ottawa, died Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima.
She was born Nov. 21, 1887, in Leipsic to George and Ellen (Thompson) Heck. She married August Doepker-in 1911, and he died in July, 1966.
Surviving are two sons, Robert, Van Wert; Charles, Ottawa; three daughters, Sister Mary Bonaventure; RSM, St. Charles Hospital, Oregon; Mrs. Ed (Helen) Dunn, Ottawa; Mrs. Robert (Mary Kathryn) McCrate, Tecumseh, Mich.; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Doepker was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chinch, Ottawa, and the. Rosary Altar Society.
Mass of Resurrection will be said Friday, at 10 a.m. in the church, the Rev. Werner Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today in McCrate Funeral Home, Ottawa.
The Rosary will be recited after the 7 p.m. mass Thursday in the church. A scripture reading will follow at 8:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home.

SISTER MARY BONAVENTURE
FREMONT - Sister Mary Bonaventure, R.S.M., 80, of Fremont, died Monday at the St. Bernardine Home, Fremont, where she retired in 1990.
The former Frances Doepker was born April 13, 1912 in Ottawa to August and Amanda (Heck) Doepker.
Surviving are a Sister, Helen Dunn, Ottawa; and a brother, Charles Doepker, Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and a sister, Mary Kathryn McCrate.
Sister Bonaventure entered the Sisters of Mercy on Sept. 24, 1933, and made profession of vows on Aug. 16, 1936. She received her registered nurse degree from St. Rita's School of Nursing, Lima.
She held many positions as a Sister of Mercy in the health care ministry, serving as nursing supervisor, laboratory and X-ray supervisor, administrator, administrative assistant and hospital sacristan at Mercy Hospitals in Tiffin and Toledo; St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima ; Our Lady of Mercy, Morganfield, Ky.; and St. Charles Hospital, Oregon.
A Mass of Resurrection will be said at 4:30 p.m. Friday at St. Bernardine Chapel, Fremont. Burial will be in the Convent Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8:30 p.m. Thursday and until the services Friday at St. Bernardine Home, where the Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are being handled by Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont.

WALT ER A. DOEPKER
GLANDORF - Walter A. Doepker, 83, a resident of Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the nursing home.
He was born Oct. 2I, 1903 in Glandorf to Frank and Magdalene (Lefkin) Doepker. He married Clara Giesken in 1928, and she died in 1932. He married Marie Schmenk on June 30. 1942, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Martha Turnwald, Cloverdale; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Doepker retired after 50 years with Finster's Meat Market. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and the church's Holy Name Society. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held after 7 p.m. today and all day Thursday at McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.

OTTAWA - Funeral services for James A. Gatzke, 89, 896 W. Main St., Ottawa, wilt be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McCrate Funeral Home, Ottawa, the Rev Werner Verhoff officiating.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Visitation is after 2 p.m. today in the funeral home, where Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today.
Mr. Gatzke died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday in the Putnam County Nursing Home. He was born in Wallaceburg, Ont. Sept. 1, 1887, to Angus and Mary Jane (Wilcox) Gatzke. He married Coletta Doepker and she died in May, 1975. Surviving are a son, Fred, Columbus; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Edward. Wallaceburg, Ont. Mr. Gatzke operated a drug and sundry store in Leipsic for 25 years before moving to Ottawa. He was a member of the Leipsic Masonic Lodge.

Irene, 92, of Carson City, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Carson City Hospital. Irene was the daughter of Michael and Mildred (Follis) McCarthy.
She married Norbert A. Doepker in Ste. St. Marie. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Carson City.
Together Irene and Bert ran the B and I Bar in Carson City. She retired from Carson City Hospital as an LPN.
She is survived daughter Diane (Rick Jipping) Mason of Holland, grandchildren Matthew Mason and Megan (Peter) Matt, great grandchildren Angus and Theodore Matt. Also brothers Jack (Verona) McCarthy, Howard McCarthy, sister Gladys Carmean and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sandra Doepker, son Fr. David Doepker and six brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carson City with Fr. David Howell officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ones local Humane Society.

Sandra Kay Doepker, 51, of New Milford (Connecticut) died Aug. 14 at her home.
Miss Doepker was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Lansing, Mich., a daughter of Irene Doepker and the late Norbert Doepker. She moved to Carson City, Mich., in December of 1948. She attended St. Mary's Academy and graduated from Carson City High School in 1966. Miss Doepker obtained an LPN degree from Montcalm Community College and worked at Carson City Hospital for several years. She later moved to New Milford and worked at New Milford Hospital for almost 30 years.
Besides her mother, Miss Doepker is survived by a sister, Diane Mason of Holland, Mich.; a nephew, Matthew Mason of Holland; a niece, Megan Mason and her fiance, Nathan Larson, of St. Paul, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, the Rev. Dave Doepker.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford, CT was in charge of arrangements.

Age 42, died on Saturday, August 29, 1992 after a lengthy illness. He was born January 21, 1950 in Carson City. MI and was preceded in death by his father, Norbert A. Doepker. Survivors include his. mother, Irene M. Doepker of Carson City; 2 sisters, Sandra K. Doepker of New AMilford, CT and Diane L. Mason of Holland. MI; 1 nephew and niece, Matthew and Megan Mason of Holland; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. John Student Parish, 327 MAC Avenue, East Lansing where the Vigil Service will be prayed at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John Student Parish. Burial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, please make donations to the Client Services Committee of the Lansing Area AIDS Network.
