MRS. CLARA SMITH
MONROEVILLE - Mrs. Clara K. Smith, 82, of 44 Brown St., died early this morning at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She has lived in the area for 45 years, corning from Kalida, Ohio. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 40 year member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Adolph (Louise) Stieber of Norwalk, Mrs. Harold (Gertrude) Reer and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Hauler, both of Monroeville; three sons, Rudy and Walter, of Norwalk, and Edward of Milan; 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1957.
Friends may call at the Drake Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Harvey Keller will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited by the Altar Society before the 8 am mass at the church Sunday.

Obituary:
Funeral services for Hubert William Rampe, 81, are to be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial to be in St. Paul Cemetery. The body rests at Scar-letts Funeral Home.
Rosary will be recited by the St. Isadore Rosary Guild at 8:30 o'clock tonight and by the parish at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Rampe, of 3845 Simpson Rd., died Tuesday morning at Memorial Hospital after a two-month illness.
He was born Sept. 9, 1881 In Glandorf, Ohio, the son of Frank and Ann (Doepker) Rampe. He attended Ottawa School in Ohio and came to his present home 51 years ago.
He married Mary Seifert in New Bavaria, Ohio on May 23, 1906. She died June 7, 1940. April 6, 1942. he married Isabel Mahoney in Chesaning.
He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and the Knights ot Columbus. He was a farmer.
Surviving besides his widow, Isabel, are: four daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Colletta) Mahoney of Chesaning, Mrs. Frank (Jeanette) Kondel of Gaines, and Mrs. William (Irene) Dwyer and Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) Dwyer, both of RFD 4. Owosso; one son, Rudolf of 750 Willow Spring Dr., Owosso; 16 grandchildren; five great.grandchildren. and one sister, Mrs. William (Clara) Smith of RFD 3, Norwalk, Conn.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Marie, one brother and three sisters.

Mrs Bertha Ann Leopold, 90, formerly of 924 Warren St., died at 5 a.m Monday in the Quality Care Nursing Home in Holgate where she had been a resident for the past six and a half years. She was born in Putnam County Feb. 2, 1896, to F.J. and Anna (Rampe) Ellerbrock. On April 17, 1917, she married Ben H. Leopold who preceded her in death on March 17, 1962.
Surviving are three sons, Henry, Route 4; Edmund, 1003 Harrison Ave.. Winfred. Duluth, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Lucinda McFeeters, Sturgis, Mich.; Mrs. James (Margene) Ankney, 925 Grace Lane; Juanita Reiman, 924 Warren St.; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Herder, 315 Auglaize St.; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Felix Ellerbrock, Toledo; Andrew Ellerbrock, Kalida; August Ellerbrock, Ottawa; one sister, Mrs. Alphonse (Theresa) Kehres, Fostoria. She was preceded in death by two sons in infancy. She had worked as a kitchen cook in several Defiance restaurants. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers Altar Society. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Johns Catholic Church by Rev. Charles Denny. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mast and Mock Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. A scriptual wake will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Obituary:
Henry "Hank" F. Leopold, 92, Defiance, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Twin Rivers Care and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance.
He was born in Ottawa, Ohio, on February 21, 1918, the son of the late Bernard "Ben" and Bertha (Ellerbrock) Leopold. Henry married Mary (Herr) Leopold on Aug. 9, 1941.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, a life member of the Jewell American Legion, life member of the Defiance VFW, life member of the Defiance D.A.V, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a life member of the Jewell American Legion, life member of the Defiance VFW, and life member of the Defiance DAV.
He worked as a surveyor at the Fulton County Engineering office for 14 years. He had also worked at the Zeller Corp. for 18 years and the State of Ohio for 7 years.
Mass celebrant was Father John Stites. Music was by
Dave Moninger. Pallbearers were Chad Klinger, Mike Baxter, Austin Leopold, Zachary Leopold, Shari Baxter, Karen Baxter and Joe Garcia. Honorary pallbearer
was Joe Leopold. Burial was in the St. Michael�s Church cemetery. The Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary; four daughters: Delores Leopold, Judy (Russ) Baxter of Conover, N.C., Shirley Robinson of Flagstaff, Arizona, Carol Klinger of Defiance; three sons: Robert (Deb) Leopold of Defiance, Charles (Janice) Leopold of Defiance, Daniel (Venus) Leopold of Gilbert, Arizona; three sisters: Margene Ankney , Juanita Reiman , and Mary Lou Herder all of Defiance, a brother: Winferd Leopold of Duluth, Minn.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Edmund Leopold; a sister, Lucinda McFeeters; a grandson and a great grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, with Father John Stites officiating. Visitation is Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., and with visitation on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Edmund B. (Ed) Leopold, 72, 1003 Harrison Ave., died Sunday morning in his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Putnam County, the son of Bernard and Bertha (Ellerbrock) Leopold. In 1959, he married Delores Gutman, who survives.
He was a self-employed carpenter, a U.S. Air Force World War II veteran, and a member of St. John Catholic Church, Jewell American Legion, New Bavaria VFW, Defiance Elks and Defiance Eagles.
Surviving are a a stepson, Tom Jenkins, Boulder, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Bob (Connie) Stretker, Route 5; two brothers, Henry of Mesa, Ariz. and Winfred, Duluth, Minn.; four sisters, Lucinda McFeeters of Wolcottville, Ind., and Mary Herder, Mrs. James (Margene) Ankney and Juanita Reiman, all of Defiance; and six step grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a stepson, Kenneth Jenkins; and two brothers.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Catholic Church with Revs. Tom Oedy and John Stites officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens where Jewell American Legion will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m Tuesday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
