BROOKSVILLE - Mr. James William Knykendall, age 77, formerly of Brooksville died in the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville Monday. He is survived by three sons; three daughters and three brothers. Hecht, Kay Daune Frankenmuth, Michigan Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great- grandmother died Friday, January 17, 2003 at her home. Age 70 years. Kay Findlay was born October 18, 1932 in Gilford, MI to the late Ray and Myrtle (Miller) Findlay. Kay graduated from Reese High School and then attended Saginaw Business Institute in Saginaw. She married Ray A. Hecht, June 11, 1955, he survives her. Kay had been employed as a secretary for Great Lakes Insurance Co. for many years and after raising her family she went back to work as a legal secretary and then was employed part time at Aunt Hatties Gift Shop in Frankenmuth. Kay was an avid reader and golfer in several golf leagues. After retiring, Kay and Ray spent their winters in Arizona. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Surviving besides her husband Ray are three sons: Ron R. and Mari Hecht of Reese, their children: Kevin, Kyle, Dereck and Marisa, Tom D. and Donna Hecht of Litchfield, MI and their children: Aaron, Kelsey and great- granddaughter to Kay, Cadance, John D. Hecht of Reese; two sisters: Arvlene Haske of Midland, Delphine and Harry Bader of Reese; two close nieces, Joyce Oxley and Marilee Gifford; many other nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers-in-law: Edna and Wyman Hegenauer, Dorothy and Wm. Tiny Zehnder, Dorothy Findlay. Kay was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Warner, one brother, Elwood Findlay, two brother-in-laws, Wilbur Haske and Gayle Warner. Funeral service will take place 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark D. Brandt will officiate with burial in Trinity Cemetery in Reese, MI. Kay's family will receive visitors at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin from 2-5 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. John E Johnston, 77, of Palm Bay Florida went to join his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2024.
He was born in Morenci, Michigan on May 17, 1947, to Ellwood (Johnny) and Dorris Johnston. He was a resident of Palm Bay, Florida for 11 years, coming from Adrian, Michigan. John graduated from Morenci High School in 1965 and was married to Deborah (Morris) Johnston since 2005.
Throughout high school John worked with his father at Johnny�s City Service. He joined the army right out of high school and served his country from 1965 to 1968. He served as a sheriff deputy for Lenawee County in Michigan for 20 years. He was also a police officer for Hudson Police Department and Tecumseh Police Department before moving to California for a short period of time. After returning to Michigan, he started working for Adrian College in 1989 as a janitor, then was paint crew leader. In 2003 he was promoted to the Director of Maintenance and Facilities until he retired in 2013.
John dearly loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, hiking, riding motorcycles, and fishing. He was a �jack of all trades�. There wasn�t anything he couldn�t do. He was always working on a project. He loved building and creating new things from old items with his wife. They called it "Reinvented Creations". He was everyone�s "go-to-guy". He loved life and was loved by everyone.
He is survived by his spouse, Deborah (Morris) Johnston; children: John Darryl Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Skylar Johnston, stepdaughter, Christine Lariscey; siblings: Judith (Bill) Lumbrezer, Sandra Pennington; Mother-in-Law, Elizabeth Morris; Sister-in-Law: Susan (Hank) Hall. He had nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. All of whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ellwood (Johnny) and Dorris Johnston; Brother-in-law: Kendall Pennington and Dan Morris; Father-in-law: Billy Morris.

Ellwood "Johnny" Johnston, 74, of Wakefield Dr., Morenci, died Saturday at the Flower Hospital in Sylvania. Mr. Johnston was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Munson, Mich. to Virgil Sr. and Violet (Fogelsong) Johnston. He was a Morenci area resident his entire life. Mr. Johnson retired from Parker Chemical of Morenci in 1987. He operated Johnny City Service filling station for 17 years and also distributed The Toledo Blade for many years. Mr. Johnson served his country during World War II in the Army and Air Force from September, 1942 to November, 1946. He was a member of the Morenci American Legion Post #368 and a member of the Morenci First Congregational United Church of Christ. Mr. Johnston married Dorris Wheeler on Dec. 24, 1942 at Camp Pendleton, Ore. and she survives. Other survivors include daughters, Mrs. Sandra (Kendall) Pennington of Wauseon and Mrs. Judity (William) Lumbrezer of Fayette; a son, John (Shirley) Johnston of Morenci; five grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and a sister, Than Rose Barid of Tecumseh, Mich.. He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Johnston Jr. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Harlan Correll officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morenci First Congregational United Church of Christ.
