Obituary:
Mrs. Dema Deliyanne, 46, wife of Gregory L. Deliyanne, publisher of the Journal and Courier, died Wednesday afternoon in Home Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Deliyanne was admitted to the hospital early Wednesday after suffering an asthmatic attack. She had been a Lafayette resident since 1973, moving here from Lansing, Mich., where her husband had been general manager of the Lansing State Jour-nal. The Deliyannes live at 1632 Cottonwood Circle. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Helene, 16; a son, Perry, 10; her par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo-dore Metros, Gary; a brother, Stacey Metros, Pittsburgh, Pa., and a sis-ter, Mrs. John Papasteffan, Chicago. The body is at the Gei-sen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway; Merrillville, Ind. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Merrillville. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Merrillville. Mrs. Deliyanne was born June 15, MS, in Rochester, Pa. She received a bach-elor of arts degree from Grove City College, Grove City, Pa., and a master of arts degree from Michigan State University, East Lan-sing. She was a member of Mortarboard and of the American Association of University Women. The Deliyannes were married in Lansing in June, 1950. Mrs. Deliyanne taught English and social studies in Walter French Junior High School, East Lansing, from 1950 to 1958. She was active in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church there and was affil-iated with Walnut Hills Country Club, the MSU Alumni Fund and Sparrow Hospital Auxiliary. In Lafayette, Mrs. De-liyanne was an immediate past vice president of the Newcomers Club and was historian of the Home Hos-pital Auxiliary.

Obituary:
Thomas E Champion, 84, died Feb 27, 2002 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was bom on June 15.1917, in Paulding, Ohio. the son of Edward J.
and Eva A. Champion. Mr. Champion was a custom homebuilder in the Belleville area prior to working for the University of Michigan, retiring from there in 1979. Mr. Champion was a quiet man whose strength was his devotion. He built the First Assembly of God church in Belleville and last attended the Faith Assembly of God Church before moving to Chelsea in 1999. Mr. Champion was an accomplished carpenter who enjoyed woodworking and and furniture making. He also loved gardening, and playing the guitar and harmonica. He was married to Alta Miller on June 20, 1937. in Ohio, and she survives. Other survivos include a daughter, Lois Mary Champion of Denver, Colo; three sons, David Lee of Los Angeles, Daniel Paul (Barbara) of Ann Arbor and Lloyd James of Chelsea: eight grandchildren, Jeffery, Eric, and Rebecca, Laurie, Kerrie and Jody. and Gina and Mia, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. A memonal service was held Saturday at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel. The Revs Jeff Crowder and Clarence Hayes officiated.

Obituary:
Champion, Alta Chelsea, MI Age 92, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born on January 11, 1911 in Burton, OH, the daughter of Daniel D. and Mary (Barkman) Miller. Alta moved to Chelsea in 1999, coming from Belleville. She attended the Nazarene Church in Chelsea, and was formerly active in the Faith Assembly of God in Belleville. She worked for U of M Hospital in Surgical Supply, retiring in 1973. Alta loved cooking, crafts and home making. She helped her husband with his custom home building business. On June 20, 1937, she married Thomas Edward Champion in Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Mary Champion of Denver, CO; three sons, David Lee (Kelly) of Los Angels, CA, Daniel Paul (Barbara) of Ann Arbor, Lloyd James of Chelsea; eight grand children, Jeffrey, Erik, and Rebecca; Laurie, Karrie, and Jody; Gina and Mia; several great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 14, 1:00 pm at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel. Rev. Jeff Crowder will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Retirement Community Wednesday 11:00 am -1:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea. Memorials may be made to UMRC Heritage Foundation.
