Obituary:
Betty Lou Sanchez, Bridgeport, Michigan. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and beloved friend passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at the University of Michigan Medical Center with her family at her side. Age 75 years. Daughter of the late Alberto and Tomasa (Ruiz) Saldana, Betty was born August 8, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to John Dionicio Sanchez on December 25, 1966. He survives her. Betty was previously a member of First Baptist Church for many years and most recently attended Hopevale Church. She was a charter member of Mujeres Asociadas de Saginaw, first female vice president of the Mid-Michigan Hispanic Business Association and very involved in her church and community. Her major pride was her family and friends but especially her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband John are three sons and two daughters, John (Veronica) Sanchez, Columbiaville; Christian (Marta) Sanchez, Saginaw; Leticia (Adam) Mikolajczak, Grand Blanc; Javier (Sandra) Sanchez, Grand Rapids; Lydia (William) Hubbard, Lansing; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lena (William) Green, Florida; Jo Peters, Saginaw; Irene Nemeth, Arizona; many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hopevale Church, 4873 N. Center Rd. Pastor Dan Miller will officiate with private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A Memorial Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Betty Lou Sanchez Scholarship Fund.

William D. "Bill" Hubbard, age 79, of Ithaca, Michigan, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Doug Strait officiating. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 and Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. William was born in Ithaca, Michigan on May 4, 1936, the son of Raymond Victor and Bertha Belle (Wright) Hubbard. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1955, On June 19, 1964 William married Shirley Jo Wilson in Ithaca, Michigan; Shirley predeceased him on April 18, 2013. Bill owned and operated Hubbard Trenching and Excavating in Ithaca, Michigan. He loved spending time with family and friends discussing history and family heritage. He enjoyed fishing, remodeling, and working on old cars and tractors. Bill was a man of many talents, he will be remembered as a man that knew and demonstrated hard work throughout his life. His passions revolved around the outdoors and he was very proud of his work and the homes he built. Bill served his country in the US Army, 6th armored division. Bill resided all of his life in the Ithaca area and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #324, the St. Louis Moose Lodge. He was a member of Ithaca Wesleyan Church. He is survived by 3 sons; Zane and Pam Hubbard, Aaron and Rose Hubbard, William and Jodie Hubbard, daughter; Vicki and Jim Wideman, grandchildren; Julie and Mark Ellsworth, William and Lydia Hubbard, Samantha and Jared Fritz, Meghan Wideman, Clark Hubbard, William and Amanda Hubbard, Brett and Cami Hubbard, Darin Wideman, Bruce Hubbard, Boyd Hubbard, Shawn and Allison Wing, Jennifer and Jim Terwilleger, and Matt and Katie Wing, and Seth Roslund, 17 great grandchildren; brother John and Judy Hubbard, step brothers; Stewart and Barb Prikasky, Clarence Shaffer, step sister Sylvia Shaffer, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Shirley, and his brother Victor. Memorials may be made to Ithaca Wesleyan Church.

Shirley Jo Hubbard, age 74, of Ithaca, MI passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Douglas Strait officiating. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday April 19, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Gering, Nebraska on August 30, 1938, the daughter of Eugene and Esther (Pollock) Wilson. Shirley married William D. Hubbard on June 19, 1964 in Ithaca.
Shirley loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, going to garage sales and antiquing. She loved to crochet and made thousands of afghans for her friends and family. She was a member at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church where she played the piano for the past several years. She was a naturally gifted musician, playing the piano, organ and accordion for her family and friends. Shirley was the owner & operator of The Hay Stack in Alma for several years, and she also managed Park Colony Apartments in Ithaca for many years.
She is survived by her husband Bill Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, son Zane Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, son Aaron and Rose Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, daughter Vicki and Jim Wideman of Ithaca, MI, son William and Jodie Hubbard of Alma, MI, grandchildren; Julie and Mark Ellsworth, William and Lydia Hubbard, Seth Roslund, Samantha and Jared Fritz, Meghan and Keith Cotter, Clark Hubbard, William Hubbard, Brett Hubbard, Darin Wideman, Bruce Hubbard, Boyd Hubbard and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Sharon and Bob Swander, Renita and Ken Best and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers; Sonny & Darrell Wilson.

Fred DuBois, 76, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Mt. Pleasant. Fred was born on February 19, 1948, in Lansing, MI, son of the late Elton and Delphine (Voge) DuBois. He started to work for Central Michigan University as a custodian. After 28 years, he retired in 2003. On May 4, 1993, he married the love of his life, Carolyn "Rose" Goffnett, in Mt. Pleasant. Fred was an immaculate man, he paid attention to detail. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. Fred loved Christmas and appreciated the decorations inside and outside his house. He devoted his life to Rose and the rest of his family. He will be missed by so many. Fred is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Rose"; children, Elton (Amanda) DuBois of St. Louis, Delphine (Jamey) Howe of Alma, Donna Kandairs of Lake Isabella, Don (Tina) Zuker of Mt. Pleasant, Robert Zuker of Rosebush, Angela (Josh) Reihl of Mt. Pleasant and Bernadine (Jim) McDaniels of Weidman; grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, Zacharia, Justin, Aaron, Heather, Zachary, Western, Addison, Sydney, Kaylee, Mason, Hannah, Peyton, Summer, Jim, Curtis and Reece; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; son, Frank DuBois; and brothers, Justin and Don DuBois. A Funeral Mass for Fred will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Matthew Gembrowski as celebrant. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7:00 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.

Annabelle E. Nelson, 81, of Stanton, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids. She was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Sidney, the daughter of Svante and Sarah Hansen Nelson. Ms. Nelson was a longtime resident of the Stanton area. She worked for World Wide Shoe Co. in Ithaca for 43 years. She was a
member of Stanton American Legion Post 452 Women's Auxiliary and formerly taught Sunday School at South Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing baseball in a women's league and bowling. Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Vincent and Martha Nelson, Robert and Lola Nelson and Paul Nelson.
She is survived by son and his wife, John and Betty Nelson of Alma; two grandchildren, Robert and Sarah Nelson of Alma; great-grandchild, Kaleb Nelson of Alma; and sister-in-law, Berneice Nelson of Lakeview. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Simpson Family Funeral Home, Stanton, with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment is in South Sidney Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
