Obituary:
MENASHA, WISCONSIN - Elizabeth Joan "Betty" (Niles) Schultz, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2019 on a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by family. Betty was born on November 18, 1925 in Appleton, WI to the late John J. and Catherine (Boehm) Niles. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated in 1943. Betty was employed at Marathon Corp. for several years in the traffic dept. She married Eugene "Geno" Forrest Schultz on Oct 1, 1949 at St. Mary's-Menasha where they were active members. Together with Geno's brother Gordon they built their house on Lincoln Street in Menasha, where they proudly raised six children. Betty worked at Herb's Food Town for many years to help support their children's Catholic education. Eugene and Betty celebrated 41 years of Marriage before Genes death in 1991. Betty enjoyed pursuing her interests of bowling, sewing, knitting, ceramics, reading, crafting and baking. She contributed crafts and candy to St. Mary's bazaars and volunteered at the Gift Shop at Theda Clark Hospital for 19 years. She was a proud sponsor of a young girl from India for 20 years through CFCA. Due to a stroke in 2016, Betty became a resident of Oak Park Place, Menasha. There she made many friends and found a new purpose with her positive attitude and good humor. She was a source of light and kindness to residents and staff. Betty is survived by her six children, Tom (Diana) Schultz, Appleton, Lou Ann (Richard) Wagner, Cross Plains, Sandy (Steve) Doepker, Appleton, Jack (Vicki) Schultz, Aloha, OR, Jeff (Maria) Schultz, Menasha and Lori Beth (Randy) Verhagen, Darboy; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 4 nephews. Many other family and friends. Preceding her in death are her brother, John Niles; 3 sisters-in-laws, Hildegarde Schultz, Frances Niles and Virginia Baumann; 2 brothers-in-law, Gordon Schultz, Ray Baumann; and a nephew, Bud Schultz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 2nd St., Menasha, WI 54952 by Rev. Paul Paider. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of mass. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Neenah. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers at Oak Park Place. "Grandma"was so appreciative! Obituary:
Verhagen, Marvin J. Menasha
Age 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center, Menasha, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marv was born May 12. 1927 in Kimberly, Wisconsin, the son of the late Mary (Ducat) and Louis Verhagen. He married Donna Gracyalna on January 3, 1955. Marv served in the U..S. Navy on the USS Terrier. He had worked for George Banta Company for many years, retiring in 1978. Marv was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Menasha. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and familly get togethers. He will be sadly missed by his wife and children. Marvin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna, Menasha; one son, Gary (Kim) Verhagen and their son Cory, Shiocton; three daughters: Connie Brazee and her son, Chad. Appleton; Cindy (Brad) Biggar and their children: Tanya and Travis, Appleton; Gail (Ken) Doepker and her children Heather and Jason, Winneconne; four great-granchil-dren, including a very special one, Taylor Verhagen. Also sur-vived by one brother, Eugene (Rose) Verhagen, Darboy; three sisters: Delores (Ken) Hennessey, Kimberly; Blanche (Richard) Verhagen, Kaukauna; Yvonne (Russ) Hassell. Neenah; and further survived by three sisters-in-law: Betty Gracyalna, Appleton; Ruth Murphy, Appleton and Lorraine Wieseler, Kaukauna; many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen, in 1976. three brothers: Averd, Harlan and Clayton and a baby sister Ethel.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Hollander and the staff at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for all their loving care and compassion.
Funeral services for Marv will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Boulevard, Menasha, with Father Roy Geenan officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Menasha. Friends and family will be received at the Laemmrich Community Funeral Home. 312 Milwaukee Street. Menasha, on Friday evenino (TONIGHT) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m prayer service. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m until the hour of the service. A memorial is being established.

Obituary:
The Rev. Douglas R. Groenewold, 61, of Muskego, Wis., formerly of Bloomington, died Monday (May 20, 2002) at his home. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Risen Savior Lutheran Church of Franklin with private cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Max A. Sass & Sons, Mission Hills Chapel, Franklin, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Risen Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund or Piano Fund, 9501 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, WI 53132. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Eberhardt Groenewold; children, Christopher Haber-bosch (Jennifer Yeakley), Peter (Sandi) Groenewold, Joel (Susie) Groenewold, Jennifer (Jose) Paez, Aaron Groenewold and Andrew Haberbosch; 10 grandchildren, Spencer, Noah, Gretchen, Maggie, Elizabeth, Douglas, Celene, Matthew, Nicholas and Olivia; two brothers, David Groenewold and Jerry Groenewold; .one sister, Sylvia Hall; and other relatives and friends. Pastor Groenewold served as a missionary in PaPau, New Guinea, from 1967-1972; pastor at St. John Lutheran Church, Withee, Wis., 1973-1984; chaplain of Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, 1984-1988. He was pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington, from 1988 to 1995; and pastor at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Franklin, from 1995 until the time of his death. He conducted opening invocation for Milwaukee Mile for several years. He attended Pastoral Leadership Institute & The Garrett Theology Seminary. He was past president of Franklin Noon Lions Club. He was an avid bowler, and an accomplished woodworker.
