Obituary:
David Edwin Staley, age 84, passed away at 11:30 pm Friday August 25, 2017, at Shawnee Manor.
David was born to the late Hugh A. and Catherine A. (McVay) Staley on November 30, 1932, in Greenville, Ohio. On March 6, 1954, he married Dixie Jo Hollinger who survives in Lima.
David was a 1952 graduate of Greenville High School where he was involved in numerous sports. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University where he played varsity football and basketball. He also graduated from Indiana University where he received his MS degree in educational administration. David taught school and coached football at Columbus Grove, Fostoria, and Lima Sr. High School. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Lions, and the Elks Clubs. He also worked as an Allen County Juvenile Probation Officer and served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader. David served as commissioner and coach of little league football and baseball teams in Lima. Additionally he served on the Shawnee School Board, Apollo Vocational School Board, and was a lifetime member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees there. David served in the US Army.
David was an avid football fan and his team of choice was The Ohio State University football team. He was a member of the Ohio State University President's Club and the Buckeye Club. He attended Ohio State football games, both home and away, and always got to his seat early to watch the warm-ups. David liked to travel and enjoyed spending fun times with his family in the Florida Keys. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and many friends to foreign countries. Most of all he was a loving husband and father and enjoyed getting together with his family and friends... making them laugh. He had a caring concern for his students and always did whatever he could to help them succeed.
David authored a book called "The Devil's Classroom."
Survivors include wife, Dixie Jo Staley of Lima; children, William D. (Heidi) Staley of Mechanicsville, VA, Rise J. (Stephen) Light of Cornville, AZ, Gretchen M. (Gene) Turner of St. Marys, OH, and David E. (Jennifer) Staley II of Lambertville, MI; grandchildren, Robert Staley, Angie Staley, Jennifer Murphy, Derek Turner, Kristi Turner, Elyse Turner, and Nick Staley; 13 great grandchildren; sister Jean Hanes and brother Tom (Jane) Staley.
A sister, Anne Lafferty, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. A private funeral service for the family will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Sr. High School Athletic Dept. or to the donor's choice.

Obituary:
Herk, 89, Kalida, died at 3:42 p.m., at St. Rita�s Medical Center.
He was the son of Harry and Alberta (Hornung) Selhorst. On Sep 12, 1953, he married Julitta 'Julie' Unverferth, who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are six children: Mary Gail (Jon Sakosits) Selhorst, Becky (Carl) Fortman, John (Nancy) Selhorst, Carol (Tom) Wannemacher, Jenny (Gary) Kahle and Jackie (John) Schimmoeller; two brothers: Urban 'Wimp' (Juanita) and Eugene 'Pete' Selhorst; a sister, Luella 'Sal' Siefker; a sister-in-law, Ann Selhorst; and eleven grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Donald 'Bub'; a brother-in-law, Norbert 'Nub' Siefker; and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Selhorst.
An Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of both the Ottawa American Legion and VFW, he retired from Wenham Transportation, Cleveland, where he received the Million Mile Safety Award. He was also a co-owner of Northwestern Equipment, Kalida, and member of St. Michael�s Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Kalida Lion�s Club, where he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was also a member of the Kalida Knights of Columbus and the Ottawa Eagles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael�s Catholic Church, Kalida, with Rev. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and DAV.

Mark Daniel "Big Boy" Reuille, 54, of Payne, Ohio passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. We will hold the memories we shared with Mark close to our hearts, and he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Penny (Whitney); parents, Linda (Kelly) and Daniel Reuille of Paulding; children, Cori (Justin) Rogers & Lee (Cindy) both of Payne & Jacob (Kelly) of Paulding; grandchildren, Conner, Audrey & Zoie and best friends, Tim & Jenny Wirts.

Niese Melvin J (Grubbie) [Male]
Obituary:
MELVIN J. "GRUBBIE" NIESE, 63, died at 11:30 p.m. Nov. 9, 2004, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.
He was born March 7, 1941, in Malinta to Wilbert and Ardella Warniment Niese, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 5, 1963, he married Marlene Ruhe, who survives in Ottawa.
Mr. Niese was a driver for Kahle-Langhals Ready Mix (formerly Made-Rite), Ottawa. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He was a member Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234 and a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142, Ottawa. He enjoyed camping, working on bikes at Grubbie's Bike Shop and talking with friends.
Survivors also include three sons, Kent (Karen) Niese of Miller City, Chad (Linda) Niese of Ottawa and Shawn (Mandy) Niese of Findlay; a daughter, Amy (Jason) Lacey of Columbus; three grandchildren; three brothers, Donald (Jeanie) Niese of New Bavaria and Marvin (Doris) Niese and Eugene Niese, both of Leipsic; and three sisters, Kathleen (Don) Sager of Ottawa, Carolyn (Larry) Korte of Glandorf and Linda (Jim) Maas of Gilboa.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gail and Joseph Niese; and two sisters, Martha Bellman and Betty Lou Niese.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Father Tim Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a FOE service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

KALIDA, Ohio - Cecelia G. (Hohenbrink) Vorst, 88, of Kalida, died at 3:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at The Meadows of Kalida.
She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Custard, to William and Anna (Brown) Hohenbrink.
On July 14, 1945, she married Cyril A. Vorst Sr. He died May 30, 1990.
Surviving are 15 children: Vincent (Kathy) Vorst of Kalida, Lavern (Mary Ann) Vorst of Tulsa, OK, Wannitta (Paul) Dennis of Pickerington, Marilyn (Dale) Ricker of Ft. Jennings, Joyce Ann (Kathy Shaffer) Vorst of New Port, KY, John (Rosie) Vorst of Findlay, Bernice (Art) Schnipke of Ottoville, Patricia (Daniel) McConnell of Zanesville, Anthony (Sandy) Vorst of Kalida, Cyril (Phyllis) Vorst, Jr. of Glandorf, Virginia (Carl) Beining of Ottoville, Cecile (Ken) Kahle of Coldwater, Connie (Ken) Kruse of Columbus Grove, Michael (Deb) Vorst of Findlay, and Fran (Diane) Vorst of Kalida; 46 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, and a daughter-in-law: Elaine (Nicholas) Balbaugh.
She was also preceded in death by three sons: Michael, Norman and Nicholas Vorst; an infant daughter; a granddaughter: Lily Ann Kruse; a brother; Edmund (Lola) Hohenbrink; and four sisters: Mary Agnes (Paul) Shondel, Dorothy (Rudy) Warnecke, Evelyn (Norman) Utrup, and Viola (Charles) Schrieber.
Cecelia and her husband were the owners of Vorst Sewing Center in Van Wert for 26 years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Rosary Altar and Catholic Ladies of Columbia Societies. She enjoyed sewing, canning, cooking, gardening and flowers. Cecelia loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Mark Hoying and Monsignor Mike Hohenbrink officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township (corner of St. Rts. 224 & 634) where there will be an Altar Rosary/CLC service at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice or to St. Michael Catholic Church.
