Dodge Kenneth Robert [Male] b. 9 MAY 1938 Ewen, Ontonagon, MI - d. 9 AUG 2010 Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, MI

Obituary
Kenneth Robert Dodge, 72, of Traverse City, died Monday, August 9, 2010, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. Ken had struggled for many years with poor health as a result of complications of diabetes and today is whole again with his Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Born in Ewen, Michigan on May 9, 1938, to Marion L. Dodge and the former Lois Z. Russell, Kens family moved to Cadillac early in his childhood and he spent much of his life in the Cadillac area. Ken attended Cadillac High School where he was an award-winning athlete in football, tennis, and basketball and was very involved in music. Ken played the lead role in many of the high school musicals. He graduated in 1956, after which he attended Michigan State University.
On October 10, 1959 Ken married the former Patricia I. Proffitt of Cadillac.
After making cheese at the Kraft Co. in Cadillac while in high school, Ken had a varied work career. He taught high school in Ida, Michigan, and then became an insurance adjuster for Citizens Insurance for many years. In 1972, Ken and Pat purchased a music store in Cadillac. Together they operated Dodges Cadillac Music Store for 10 years. Drawing on Kens musical knowledge and ability as a gifted pianist, Ken sold pianos and organs and gave private lessons to many students in the Cadillac area. During this time Ken and Pat were well known for their beautiful gospel singing in many churches in the area. After the store closed in 1982, Ken worked selling solar heating equipment in the Milwaukee area and for many years worked for Kwik Trip convenience stores in southern Wisconsin.
Ken was a member of the Michigan State University Mens Glee Club. He was an ardent and devoted fan of MSU athletics, especially basketball and football. He was a gifted music and choir director at several churches, including First Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church in Cadillac, the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Christ United Methodist Church in Traverse City. He was a member of the Cadillac Arts Council, the Cadillac Footlighters, Cadillac Jaycees, and was instrumental in obtaining funding for the building of the Cadillac High School auditorium and tennis courts.
Ken had a passion for words, books, and music. He read extensively and in particular was a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and Lewis Carrolls works. He loved classical music. He loved Northern Michigan and its beautiful lakes, especially Torch Lake, near which his parents had grown up and where he spent a great deal of time. Ken loved to converse with family and friends about many topics including sports, music, the Bible, and politics. His wit, sarcasm, and odd nicknames for many around him will be greatly missed. Kens strong Christian faith was central to his life, and over the years he taught many Bible studies and Sunday school classes at many different churches he attended.
Survivors include Krystn Madrine and husband Steve Dahm of Bellefonte, PA, and her children Brynne, Arthur, and Trevor; Kraig and Melissa Dodge of Newaygo, MI, and their children Malachi, Elizabeth, and Jonah; and Sarah Schieber and husband Jim Hrabal of St. Louis, MI, and her children Abigayle, Noah, and Micah. Ken is also survived by four step-grandchildren as well as his former wife and good friend Patricia Dodge, his former mother-in-law Agnes Proffitt, his brother Russell Dodge and wife Gail of Clio, four nieces, and special friends John and Kim Schaub of Traverse City, and their daughters Megan and Melissa. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and special son-in-law Chad Schieber.
A celebration of Kens life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Cadillac. Family will receive visitors beginning at 6:00 pm, with the celebration of Kens life beginning at 6:30. A dessert fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to the Kenneth Dodge Memorial Book Fund at the Cadillac-Wexford Public Library at 411 S. Lake St., Cadillac MI 49601, or to the family at 1077 Hillcrest Dr., Boon, MI 49618. Hall Veronica Kay [Female] b. 1 SEP 1937 Saginaw, MI - d. 14 AUG 2025 Saginaw, MI

Obituary:
To be nurtured by family and sustained by friends is to live a blessed life, and that is exactly what I have had. Today, August 14, 2025, after 87 years, I make my way to God with a heart that is bursting with love and beating with laughter, for those are the emotions that most filled my days, and I have all of you to thank for that.
To my father, William Hall: Thank you for the selfless way that you always put the needs of family before your own. You were a gentle soul with a mischievous streak that gave me a sense of humor and the certitude that I was loved. Thank you for giving our family the courage to start a business that remains a source of pride for us all. To my mother, Veronica (Boland) Hall: You were a feisty, resourceful, force of nature who instilled in me a sense of accomplishment and the sure knowledge that God was watching out for me. To my big brother Bill (Aija) who has preceded me and my little brother Jon (Brenda): I was always proud to be your sister, and I sincerely appreciate both of you looking after me during my last days. I cant wait to see you again and finally have a good laugh about all of this.
To my husband of 56 years, Louis Furlo: I knew that you were the one when on our first date we went to dinner AND a movie my kinda guy. Our life together has been an adventure fit for any storybook, traveling the world and embracing its cultures. However, what I value most is that it has always been rooted in a profound and holy love. Thank you for your complete dedication to our family. You always made me feel special and I will love you forever! PS The next time I see you I will have a pot of sauce and some fresh taralli.
To my three sons and their wonderful families, Louis (Barbara) Furlo, Paul (Clare) Furlo and Christopher Furlo: No mother could be prouder. You are all dedicated husbands, wives, fathers and mothers who sincerely love their families; you boys are worthy stewards of the business that your father created; and all of you take what little spare time you have and serve the community. Thank you for embracing Christs call to love one another by taking care of people who are not always able to take care of themselves. I leave this life knowing that our next generation is safely in your hands.
To my grandchildren, Isabella, Alexandra, Emilia, Giuliana, Eva, Luca, Estella, Aria, Elisabetta, and John Paul: You are that next generation and that puts a smile on my face. I truly cant believe how wonderful you are. Each one of you is smart, beautiful, talented, accomplished and of course, funny. What more could your Nana ever want? I love you, I love you, I love you.
To all of my extended family and especially my friends, you have made every day a joy. To the St. Andrews Girls who have been life-long friends for more than 75 years; to the friends Ive made while working on projects for the YWCA, Junior League, Saginaw Symphony, Garden Club, St. Marys Hospital, the Free Ward and Sts. Peter & Paul (St. Dominic) in Saginaw; to my cousins down the street; and to my Florida family in Palm Beach, especially you church hussies from St. Edwards, you have all made me laugh and feel the sincere bond of true friendship. I will miss you all.
To all of my family and friends, please know that I leave this world having lived a life that was far beyond any that I could have imagined. Your laughter and love has sustained me for these 87 years. Now, with the help of Mary our Mother, I place myself in the hands of her son Jesus Christ and ask God Almighty to welcome me home where I will wait to love and laugh with all of you again. If youd like to remember me with an expression of sympathy, Id be equally humbled by a charitable donation to St. Gerard Society of Saginaw, or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. May God bless you all.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church, where the family will be present on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Please share memories and condolences with the family at snowfuneralhome.net
