Julie A. Wortman of Albuquerque and Peter J. Moskowitz of Norwich, Conn., exchanged marriage vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 24 at the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Ryan Jr. of Albuquerque and Thomas J. Wortman of Carmel, Calif. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moskowitz of Norwich. Mrs. P. Moskowitz Karen Nufer was matron of honor and James McCarthy, best man. The couple will make their home in Norwich following a wedding trip to Florida. The bride is employed by Dun& Bradstreet and the groom by Moskowitz Motor Transport.

James Harold Ryan, Jr., 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, February 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Ceegie) Ryan; son, James Michael Ryan; two daughters, Keli Watts and Patty Birge; step-children, Kurt Wortman, Ron Wortman, Karen Nufer and Julie Moskowitz; and grandchildren, Cassie, Rhiannon, Jimmer, Lindsay, Alexa, Rachel, Matthew, Abe and Susanna. Jim was a UNM graduate in Engineering. He was the President of JH Ryan and Son, builder of the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, numerous bridges across the state of NM and Procter Dam in Texas. Jim was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Elks Club, the Albuquerque Country Club, the Petroleum Club and the Association of General Contractors. He was a fighter pilot in the 27th Fighter Bomber Group and flew 98 combat missions during World War II in the European Theater. Jim and his fellow WWII pilots kept in touch and they met every two years for a reunion. He was an avid reader, loved to travel and he collected antique cars and art. Mr. Ryan was a treasure to all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Father Robert Keller, O.P., Celebrant. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd. NE, 87106.

Herculano Ortiz Bailon, 78, passed away on October 29, 2003 at the Streams of the Desert home in Tempe, Ariz.
He was born April 28, 1925 in Solomonville, Ariz., in Graham County.
He attended high school in Globe, Ariz., and attended the University of Arizona. He worked at Ryan-Evans Drug Stores in the pharmacy for 25 years before he served as a court bailiff/interpreter in the City of Phoenix Municipal Court system for 19 years. Bailon belonged to the Southside Baptist Church in Tempe where he sang in the choir for 25 years. He also was a member of VFW Post 3632. A native of Arizona, he lived in Globe, Superior, Tucson and Tempe. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-45 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 12, 1945. He was awarded the Victory Medal World War II, Asiatic Pacific three stars and America Area Point System.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Hazel; sisters, Rachel Munoz of Tucson, Ariz., and Becky Mendoza of Coolidge, Ariz.; daughters, Alicia of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Anna Hill of Hayward, Calif.; Elena Wortman of Tempe, Ariz; and son, Gilbert of Dallas, Texas. He also is survived by two stepsons, one stepdaughter and seven grandchildren.
The memorial service was Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Southside Baptist Church at 1001 E. Southern Ave. in Tempe and burial followed at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Ariz., 85282. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Southside Baptist Church at 1001 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, Ariz., 85282-5489.

Niantic- Richard Moskowitz, 79, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London on Saturday November 10, 2007. He was born October 28, 1928 in Norwich, the son of the late Max and Anne Moskowitz. He married Ruth Silverman on June 12, 1953 in Lebanon, PA. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, a son, and their spouses: Debra and Andrew Kaye of Sudbury, MA; Meryl and John Tsagronis of Arlington, VA; Jamie and Robert Shigley of Argyle, TX and Peter and Julie Moskowitz of Old Saybrook. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, two brothers and one sister: Larry Moskowitz, Jerry Moskowitz and Joyce Feen. Dick attended the University of CT. He was president and owner of Moskowitz Motor Transportation in Plainfield. Dick was a veteran of the US Army who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Beth Jacob Synagogue and a board member of the Hebrew Benevolent Society. Dick loved to fish, travel, and was a lifelong UCONN basketball fan. Funeral services will be held today, Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery #3 in Preston. Obituary:
East Lyme - Ruth (Silverman) Moskowitz, 84, of East Lyme, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on June 8, 2016.
Ruth was born Oct. 24, 1931, the daughter of Phillip and Rebecca "Betty" (Meyer) Silverman who raised their family together in Norwich. The Silvermans were lifelong members of Brothers of Joseph of Norwich.
Upon graduation from Norwich Free Academy in 1949, Ruth continued her studies at the University of Connecticut and at Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston. She returned to Connecticut to pursue a career as a dental hygienist.
Ruth was a kind and compassionate woman who was active in the Sisterhood of Beth Jacob and volunteered for many years at The William W. Backus Hospital.
Ruth married Richard Moskowitz in June of 1955 and raised four children in Norwich.
Her interests included reading books, especially mysteries, movies, Broadway theatre, and knitting. Above all, Ruth was proudest of her family and, in recent years, traveled many miles crisscrossing the country to visit with each of her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her children, Debra Kaye of Sudbury, Mass., Peter Moskowitz of Old Saybrook, Meryl Moskowitz of Old Saybrook, Jamie Shigley of Argyle, Texas, and their spouses, Andrew Kaye, Julie Moskowitz, and Robert Shigley; as well as her brother, Label Silverman of Manchester; and 10 loving grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Richard H. Moskowitz, and her sister, Kalie Hertz of Norwich.
