Col. (Ret.) Ernest Pierce Terrell Jr.Col. (Ret) Ernest Pierce Terrell Jr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by members of his loving family on June 11, 2009. Services will be held at Fort Sill, on Monday June 15th, at 10am with the burial following at nearby Fort Sill National Cemetery.Col. Terrell was born October 18, 1929 to Ernest Pierce Terrell Sr. and Lucile Holland Terrell in Stamps, Arkansas. He graduated from Chickasha High School and attended the University of Oklahoma becoming a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He enlisted in the Army in 1948. He was commissioned second lieutenant, Field Artillery. Col. Terrell served with great valor during the Korean War from 1950-51, earning the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in the field of combat. He married Allene White of Chickasha in 1956, with whom he had three children; Teresa, Ernest III, and Linda. He graduated in 1965 from St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kansas. Col. Terrell's 30-year military career took the family across the US, Asia and Europe. His additional assignments included service at the Pentagon as well as two tours in Vietnam, where he was again awarded numerous citations for his gallantry.He retired in 1976 and moved to Falconhead, OK. He was active with the following: Honorary Colonel of the 21st Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas, Executive Committee of the United States Field Artillery Association, the 24th Infantry Division Association, the Legion of Valor, and president and board member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association, Southern Oklahoma Retired Officers Association, Falconhead Men's Golf Association, Falconhead Christian Fellowship and the Lion's Club of Marietta, Oklahoma. He was an avid reader, golfer, and OU and Dallas Cowboys football fan. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Alice Terrell Brown. He is survived by his wife Allene White Terrell; brothers-in-law Craig and Malcolm Mandeville, formerly of Chickasha; son Ernest Pierce Terrell III, daughter Linda Allene Terrell, all of Norman, and daughter Teresa Terrell Studer of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren, Colin Thompson, Amanda and Briana Bliss, Stefan and Cooper Terrell, his sons-in-law, William F. Studer Jr. and David E. Wilson; brother-in-law Jack Brown; nieces Sally Gilbert and Susan MacMahan; and nephew John Brown.Donations in his honor can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Center for Children and Families, Inc of Norman, or a charity of choice.

ISABELLE C. MacCARTEE
Longtime Resident and Golfer
Isabelle C. MacCartee, 79, a longtime resident of the Washington area and an avid golfer, died of cancer April 13 at Suburban Hospital.
Mrs. MacCartee, who lived in Bethesda, was born in New Orleans. She moved to the Washington area as a child and grew up in Riverdale. She attended Hyattsville High School and later Central High School in Washington, where she was vice president of the class of 1933.
She graduated from Columbus Law School.
She was a member of Columbia Country Club. She won The Washington Post Class A golf tournament in 1953.
She was an honorary member of the Touchdown Club.
Her husband of 41 years, Carl C. MacCartee, died in 1977.
Survivors include three children, Carolyn Callaway of Potomac, Dr. Carl C. MacCartee Jr. of Washington and Kay Myers of Bethesda; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
