Obituary:
Norman A. Black, 93, passed away on July 3, 2019, at 5:18 pm, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Norman was born February 4, 1926 in Lima, OH, to Norman and Leona (Tallman) Black who preceded him in death. On January 3, 1946 he married Evelyn “Becky” (Snook) Black who preceded him in death on March 2, 1998.
Norman was a Army veteran and was honorably discharged after two years of service. He was a member of Lima Lodge 205 Free and Accepted Masons, Ohio Priory Number 18 Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Masters High Twelve Club Number 590, Lima Shrine Number 20 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a 32nd Degree Mason, Order of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. He was a past member of Fort Amanda Lodge 706 Free and Accepted Masons, High Priest of Lima Chapter Number 49 Royal Arch Masons, Master of Lima Council Number 20 Royal and Select Masons, and Commander of Shawnee Commendery Number 14 Knights of Templar. He was also a real estate agent for Yocum Reality for over 30 years. Norman enjoyed baseball and golf, he also umpired little league baseball, men’s softball at Faurot Park and refereed midget league football. Norman cherished his wife Becky and loved his children dearly.
Norman is survived by his children, Mark S. “Steve” (Demetta) Black of Lima, OH, Brian Black of Lima, OH, Norman (Jeannie) Black of Lexington, KY, Mathew Kevin (Marcella) Black of Waynesfield, OH, siblings, Russell (Barb) Black of Lima, OH, Jack (Judy) Black of Lima, OH, Lawrence “Butch” Black of Lima, OH, seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela (Norbert Kidd) Black – Kidd, and brother, Paul (Peg) Black.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00AM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Pastor John Maynard to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL with a Masonic Service to follow.
