William C. Hester 74, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Mr. Hester was born June 27, 1932, in Henderson, KY, the son of William and Kathryn (Smith) Hester. Mr. Hester was a talented man for having raised himself since his mother passed away when he was seven. He developed skills as a bricklayer and carpenter, and later worked as a long distance truck driver, until his retirement from K-mart Corporation. He loved scenic drives down back roads, being in control of the TV-clicker, and 'manning the grill' for gatherings with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Eva; son William (Kris) Hester, Jr. of Charlotte; daughters, Kathy (Ronald) Sullivan of Dimondale, Cheril Lynn Story and (Lynn Glasslee) of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and brother, Roger Hester of Evansville, IN. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Charles. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. LaValey, Douglas M. of St. Charles, passed away at home on Friday, March 18, 2011. Age 52 years. Doug was born April 6, 1958 in Saginaw to Marvin and Laura (Hasse) LaValey. He married Laura Bitterman on June 26, 1992. She survives him. Doug was employed as a journeyman carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Local 706 in Saginaw. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being involved racing cars with his brother, Mark.
Surviving are his wife, Laura and son, Douglas M. LaValey, Jr.; mother, Laura LaValey; three sisters and two brothers, Mary Ann Chapman, Vicki (Gary) Kocur, Sue (Tom) Hall, Mark (Maxine) LaValey, Greg LaValey; mother-in-law, Louise Bitterman; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded by his father, Marvin LaValey and brother-in-law, Richard Chapman.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at Kendall Funeral Home, St. Charles. Rev. Darold English will officiate with burial in Garfield Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Services for Mary E. Wortman will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton by Father Anthony Dinovo. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Kenton.
Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home in Kenton, where a prayer service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
She died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at her home.
She was born May 15, 1920 in Hardin County to Karl Arthur and Margaret E. (Carrothers) Bloom. On Sept 2, 1940, she married Richard Wortman and he preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1969.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Suzanne Crider and Patricia (David) Williams, both of Piqua, Margaret Kim Montgomery of Kenton and Laura (Marvin) Edwards of Columbus; three sons, Richard Scott (Marlene) Wortman of Columbus, Vincent A. Wortman of Dublin and Russ (Annette) Wortman of Westerville; two sisters, Louise (Don) Norman and Rachael Osbun, both of Kenton; grandchildren, Randy Crider, Cara Garpiel, David Evans, Kimberly Bingham, Roy Montgomery II, Jordan Williams, Allison Williams, Emily Williams, Nicholas Wortman and Joseph Wortman and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Lois Wortman; four brothers, Maurice, John, Joe, and Warren Bloom and two sisters, Mildred Schrupp and Emma Jane Bloom.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church her entire life.

Funeral services for Karl A. Bloom, 80, of Route 3, Buck Township, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Fr. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Bloom died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in Hardin Memorial Hospital where he had been since Friday.
A retired farmer, he had resided his lifetime in Hardin County.
Born in Kenton, Aug. 26, 1890, he was a son of Lewis and Mary Jane (McCann) Bloom.
He first married Margaret Elizabeth Carruthers in 1913 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1929.
In October 1963, he married Clara Maahs and she survives. Also surviving are sons, Maurice of Kenton, Warren of Route 1, Rushsylvania, John L. of Route 3, Kenton, and Joseph E. of Route 3, Kenton; daughters, Mrs. G. W. (Mildred) Schrupp of Denver, Mrs. Mary Wortman of Kenton, Mrs. Donald (Louise) Norman of Route 3, Kenton, Mrs. Richard (Rachel) Osbun of Route 5, Kenton; 27 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
One son, a daughter, two brothers, and two sisters preceded him. Friends will be received at the Schindewolf Memorial Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Rosary will be rerecited at 8 p.m. Friday."
