Obituary:
Carolyn A. McCrate, 60, of Wapakoneta, OH died at 6 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Canal Winchester [Ohio].
She was born Sept. 13, 1942, to Urban and Betty Hauck Kaup and her mother survives. On July 20, 1963, she married Richard R. "Dick" McCrate, who also survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Andrea (David) McCrate Jenike, Cincinnati, Bridget (Seth) Protus, Pickerington, Amy (Robert) Benedum, Canal Winchester, Sara (Brian) McCort, New Albany; two sisters, Kathy (Mark) Fullenkmap, St. Henry, and Judy (Andy) Fiely, Cranberry; a brother, Urban (Mary) Kaup, Coldwater; and four grandchildren.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Wapakoneta. She was a graduate of Coldwater High School and St. Rita's Hospital Radiology School.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, the Rev. William Eilerman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30-10:15 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions can be made to the church building fund or St. Rita's Medical Center Development Fund.

Rise Light, who spent all but her senior year of high school in Lima schools, came to work there in 1978. She was the first elementary physical education teacher to work in the district. She taught in several elementary schools for 11 years and then taught health at North and West junior high schools. She coached tennis and swimming at Lima Senior High School her first seven years with the district.
Light continued as assistant principal at Lima North Middle School and then served as Lima West Middle School principal for nine years. She moved to Liberty last school year when it became the kindergarten through eighth-grade arts magnet school. She's seen the district through many changes and boasts that she has taught or served as principal for three generations of some families.
